Periscope is Twitter’s newest acquisition. The app operates by allowing users to live-stream video directly to their Twitter accounts.
Simply, sign in with your Twitter account and begin broadcasting. You can check out what’s happening live globally, watch the “Most Loved” feeds, or see what the people you follow are up to.
(Periscopes featured feeds.)
While the app has gained some traction, competitors such as Meerkat have surfaced. Meerkat works similarly, steaming live feeds.
Recently, Periscope discovered copycats weren’t their biggest problem. HBO issued takedown notices to Periscope last week after they realized fans were live-streaming “Game of Thrones.”
Although the quality is low, it does beg the question, will live-streaming apps become the next big copyright issue?
Have you used any of the new live-streaming apps like Periscope or Meerkat? What did you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
